Urolithin A (UA) is a gut-microbiome-derived metabolite of ellagitannins. Ellagitannins are polyphenolic compounds naturally present in plant foods such as pomegranate, almonds, and walnuts. Upon ingestion of ellagitannin-rich foods, these compounds are metabolized into Urolithin A by the microflora in the large intestine. The conversion from natural polyphenols to Urolithin A depends on certain microbiomes. Approximately 40% of humans don’t possess the microbiome capable of producing it.
Urolithin A is being investigated for its role in cellular health through its effects on the mitochondria. Preliminary research suggests it is a safe molecular signaler of the cellular rejuvenation process known as mitophagy—the body's natural mechanism for recycling and regenerating damaged mitochondria. By enhancing mitophagy, Urolithin A may help combat age-related declines in mitochondrial and muscle function.
AOR’s Urolithin A + combines this novel ingredient with 3 other nutrients: resveratrol, wheat germ (spermidine), and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) for a powerful cellular rejuvenation cocktail. As always, AOR is at the fore front of innovation and bringing cutting edge nutraceuticals to support your health!
Suggested Use: Take one capsule three times a day with or without food, or as directed by a health care practitioner.
