Stop-it-Cold® Throat Spray is a combination well loved by users and practitioners because of its high degree of effectiveness. When you or your patients suffer from sore throat and/or other mouth and throat infections, reach for Stop-it-Cold® Throat Spray. Stop-it-Cold® Throat Spray has demonstrable antibacterial and analgesic qualities. Because it is antimicrobial, Stop-it-Cold® Throat Spray significantly reduces sore throat symptoms while at the same time diminishing the intensity and duration of colds, flu or throat infections.

The ingredients in this formula – marshmallow, whey, propolis, Echinacea angustifolia, fennel, licorice and sage – include medicinal plants with countless years of traditional use behind them. A tremendous amount of modern clinical and laboratory work confirms that they are especially effective for relieving sore throat and/or other mouth and throat infections.
The following is a brief explanation of the individual herbs and the rationale for their use:
Marshmallow – With a medicinal history going back thousands of years, this demulcent herb contains large amounts of mucilage, a spongy material that soothes inflammation of the mucous membranes. Marshmallow also has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic compounds. This makes it very useful for cases of inflamed throat and larynx, as well as coughs associated with such inflammations of the respiratory mucosae. Irritation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa is an approved use confirmed by Germany’s herbal licensing authority.
Whey - This formula contains whey for great flavour; additionally, whey protein has immune stimulant properties.
Propolis - The analgesic properties of propolis are unparalleled. Applied to painful sore throats, propolis’ effects are instantaneous. Its combination with other herbs enhances its analgesic properties. One author asserts that the anaesthetic effect of propolis is stronger than that of novocaine.
School-aged children given propolis in one study were found to become sick with colds less often than other children not given the supplement.
Echinacea angustifolia – Eclectic physicians relied on E. angustifolia for its antiseptic powers, including serious infections like sepsis and typhoid among its indications. Modern use and clinical trials continue to prove its traditional benefits and efficacy for dispelling colds and flu.
Fennel – Possessing antimicrobial properties, fennel is a soothing expectorant in the treatment of coughs. A great-tasting herb, it also helps to make this formula taste delicious.
Licorice – With antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiallergenic, antioxidant, and antimutagenic qualities, this ancient herb is an effective demulcent, soothing to the mucous membranes of the throat and lungs. It also acts as an adaptogen and immunomodulator.
Sage – David Hoffmann calls sage "the classic remedy for inflammations of the mouth, throat, and tonsils." In support of this, Dr. James Duke points out that, "In Germany... physicians recommend a hot sage gargle for tonsillitis. The reason appears to be that sage has high levels of tannins, substances that have a soothing, astringent action and an antimicrobial effect. Sage is loaded with other antiseptics, too."
Combination rationale: Echinacea is the infection fighter par excellence. Its benefits escalate by combining it with the other herbs in this formula. Sage, licorice and propolis are all anti-infective. The anti-infective properties of each of these herbs are improved by their synergistic dynamics. Propolis has the added benefit of analgesia, hence its utility for easing the pain of sore throats. Marshmallow and licorice provide a critical demulcent edge to this combination. While soothing and anti-infective in their own right, fennel and licorice both confer the benefit of good taste.
Other combinations to consider: Use in combination with EchinaSeal® for acute upper respiratory tract infections, colds, flu, tonsillitis, ear, nose, lung or throat infections. Use in combination with Respirafect® (Usnea Combo) for lung infections or with Sinafect™ (Elder Combo) for sinus infections.  For longer-term immune support, consider our Deep Immune® formula and/or EchinAce®.
Administration: Spray 3 or 4 times (0.5-0.7 ml) into the back of the throat, every 1-2 hours, as needed. Take a few hours before or after other medications.
